We first met when the company was establishing a factory. We initially helped in HR matters, namely recruitment, creation of company structure as well as salary and benefit scheme, and drafting of company rules. After few months, the company asked us to support accounting and payroll, followed by tax and legal advisory in the Czech Republic. Later, we started supporting their activities in Ireland, tax discussion with clients in Germany, tax advisory in Spain and UK, transfer pricing documentation in the Czech Republic, legal reviews, and many more. Our Japan desk has been helping matters which especially involves in Japanese expats, HQ in Japan, and any troubleshooting. They value our Japan desk’ s quick and extensive support, customer-oriented advice, and role as a single communication point for any matters.

The company established the first European subsidiary in Denmark. After the incorporation, they reached us to ask foraccounting and payroll services. Those matters were handled from Japanese HQ, and the person in charge didn’ t speakEnglish. Japan desk helped in communication as well as other needs based on Japanese business practices. Submissionof transfer pricing became mandatory in 2022, therefore we also provided support in creating local file in Denmark.

We started providing service right after the company has established an entity in Poland. The service offered includes tax advisory, legal advisory, HR support, visa support, accounting, and payroll. Originally they were planning to do accounting within the company, but they needed our extensive support until the preparation of ERP system has been completed. The company has Polish employees in HR and accounting section; therefore, Japan desk is mainly supporting visa, tax and troubleshooting matters. We also helped in VAT registration in Denmark.

The company had problems in establishing logistics within EU, therefore our first service provided was logistic consulting in cooperation with an external professional. Later, we started providing payroll, legal advisory, tax advisory, and audit services. We also supported solving ad-hoc tax problems in Poland and Germany. The company sees value in our Japan desk service – the expats in the company prefer to communicate in Japanese especially for sensitive and complicated matters.

Initially, we supported the application of investment incentives. Following their original start-up plan, the timeline for preparing incentive application was very tight. However, we completed the application documents within 2 months and successfully submitted before the deadline. Currently, they are in the process of building a plant, and we started supporting accounting and IFRS reporting to their headquarters in each quarter. We also provide ad-hoc tax and legal advisory services, especially in compliance with VAT matters in other EU countries. They like our Japan desk service, as they can get supplemental explanations in Japanese and ask for any troubleshooting matters.

Firstly, we provided tax evaluation regarding VAT transaction of their new business plan. As a result of the evaluation, the company established an entity in Italy. We supported incorporation and compliance matters (including e-invoicing system and opening a local bank account), and later started providing accounting, legal advisory and tax advisory services. Since their members in headquarters do not speak English, our Japan desk has been providing communication support for all the matters.

When we first met, the company was conducting a feasibility study. In the end, they decided to invest in the Czech Republic as it is a convenient location for their business in Europe. We provided the first audit service in Poland for the past three fiscal years with very tight schedule. Our Korea desk supported the communication with financial department in Korea as well as the auditors in Korea, to make the work efficiently and keep the tight deadline. We are continuously providing the similar audit service every year.
